Down in the Valley

Audition Info

I stumbled across audition info while trying to dig up more on "Down in the Valley". So if you're in the film industry (or aspiring to be), maybe you'll find something. If not, the casting descriptions give a lot of interesting info on the film (including SPOILERS!)

The info is from My Entertainment World, but here's the hitch: the details on where to send your pics and resume are only available via subscription to My Entertainment World

So if you're interested in auditioning, I hope you can find out that info on your own (I'm not in the film industry so I don't have any suggestions).

BEWARE- Tobe is taken!
The lead role of Tobe is unavailable even though it is still among the cast listings. Variety and the Hollywood Reporter reported that Evan Rachel Wood has the role of the rebellious daughter. I put a strikeout through the description of the role.

From the small info from Variety/Hollywood Reporter on the pic I'm assuming that EN has the role of Harlan - the delusional man who thinks he's a cowboy - which is not among the cast listings.

Here's the info. I don't know what's still available and I don't know anything else. So just for your information, here is the notice or view it at My Entertainment World. SPOILER WARNING!!!

(Los Angeles, CA) - Send pictures & resume to: Details Are only Available By Subscription.. Title: DOWN IN THE VALLEY. EXEC PROD, Sam Nazarian; PROD, Adam Rosenfelt, Holly Wiersma; DIR/SCR, David Jacobson. Shoot Dates: Late February, 2004 (in Los Angeles). Breakdown-- Lonnie: 11. He's a painfully thin and pale youth who seems oddly stunted both physically and emotionally. A fearful and simple-minded boy, Lonnie imagines he sees figures outside his window at night, and refuses to sleep with the light off. Impressed by Harlan's dashing cowboy persona, Lonnie grows to trust the older boy implicitly. When the police initially suspect Lonnie of shooting his sister, Lonnie takes off into the hills with Harlan, with the distraught Wade and the police hot on their trail. Lead; Wade: Late 40s, he's the father of Tobe and Lonnie, whom he has been raising singlehandedly ever since his wife abandoned him. A guard at a juvenile detention center, Wade is hard-pressed to cope with his hell-raising daughter, Tobe, whose wild ways have given him a few gray hairs. Secretly, though, Wade admires Tobe's gumption. Sensing that her new beau, Harlan, is a danger to his daughter, Wade tries to run Harlan off at the point of a gun. When he later finds Tobe at the point of death after being shot by Harlan, Wade is distraught. However, when Lonnie runs off into the hills with Harlan, Wade gives chase, prompting Harlan to go on a killing spree. Later, with the cops along this time, Wade tracks down the fugitive for a final showdown. Lead; Tobe: Wade's daughter, she's a beautiful but wild 17 year old with a crystal stud in her nose and a tattoo. Very close to her younger brother Lonnie, a special needs kid, Tobe has a fractious relationship with her father, whom she riles by frequently staying out all night. When Tobe first meets Harlan, she is wowed by his cowboy charm and courtly mannerisms, and the two engage in a torrid romance. Tobe is furious when her father runs her new lover off at the point of a gun. Later, however, just as Tobe is sensing that there's something not quite right with Harlan, he opens fire on her for no apparent reason, leaving her in a coma. Lead; Charlie: This craggy, irascible old man comes running when he spots Harlan and Tobe "borrowing" one of his horses. He's infuriated by Harlan's devil-may-care attitude, and menaces the couple with rifle in hand. Charlie is even more livid when Harlan tells the police that he is a good friend of Charlie, and that Charlie is obviously having a senile episode. Later, Charlie goes with Wade and a couple of other men to track down Harlan and Lonnie - a fatal errand for Charlie, as it turns out. Lead; Sheridan: This police detective is in his early 60s, but still very fit and vigorous. When Tobe is shot, Sheridan initially thinks that Wade's story of a deranged cowboy assailant is so much hooey. However, as the bodies start piling up, Sheridan realizes that Wade's account is true. He accompanies Wade on a manhunt for Harlan, who has taken off into the backcountry with young Lonnie in tow; Bill Sr. / PA: This craggy and weathered man in his late 50s is Ma's husband, who works the farm while she cares for a dozen or so foster kids. Pa is shocked when Harlan, an old charge of theirs, comes back for a visit and winds up pulling a gun on Ma; Steve: Wade's good friend, he tries to comfort Wade after Tobe is shot and Lonnie abducted by the clearly unbalanced Harlan. He joins Wade on the search for Harlan and is one of the few survivors of their initial expedition; Gale: This woman meets Wade in a bar, and comes home with him for a one-night stand. She lends a sympathetic ear to Wade when he complains about his problems with his kids; April: Tobe's friend, she's a pot-smoking, wild teen who goes to the beach with Tobe and a group of other kids. She's not pleased when she learns that Tobe has invited gas jockey Harlan along for the trip; Red: A big, heavyset guy, he owns a Western apparel store on Van Nuys Boulevard. He find Harlan eccentric but amusing; Bill & Sherry: These pot-smoking kids accompany April and Tobe on a trip to the beach; Hispanic Kid: This playful little Hispanic kid outside Harlan's seedy apartment plays at being a gunslinger with Harlan, telling him to "draw"; Policeman: This policeman gets nervous when he sees Charlie brandishing a rifle at Harlan and Tobe. He warns Charlie to put the gun down and step away; Gene: This cop is also investigating a disturbance at Charlie's place; Neighbor: This alarmed neighbor bangs on Harlan's door after hearing gunfire inside; Ricardo: The superintendent at Harlan's apartment, this short guy from El Salvador is aghast when he sees that Harlan has shot up his apartment. He evicts Harlan on the spot; Hasidic Woman: This Hasidic woman eyes Harlan suspiciously when he knocks on her neighbor's door; Big Hasid: This big Hasidic man helps the Rabbi wrestle the disruptive Harlan out of their temple; Waitress: A waitress at Canter's, she smiles at Harlan's gregarious chatter; Policewoman: This policewoman barges into the house, the scene of the recent shooting; Kid: Initially suspicious of Harlan, this 14 year old kid is a foster child on Ma and Pa's farm. He runs to tell Ma that one of her former charges has come for a visit; Shell: Shy teenage girl is another of Ma's foster kids, who remembers Harlan from his time on the farm; Bill Jr.: Ma and Pa's grown son, he's initially welcoming to Harlan, who has come back for a visit.
