Current projects/Upcoming projectsDown in the Valley- STATUS: POST-PRODUCTION EN is producing and starring opposite Evan Rachel Wood in this indie drama by writer/director David Jacobson (Dahmer). Filming started Feb 29 in Los Angeles. Painted Veil- STATUS: STILL KICKIN' EN is producing and starring in this adaptation of the W. Somerset Maugham novel which was first announced in Feb 2000. A female lead still has to be cast (Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman were each previously attatched). Filming will hopefully start sometime this spring in China. Dirty Work- STATUS: Premiered at Sundance- EN is the executive producer of this documentary about "the dirtiest jobs you'd never want to do" The 25th Hour- NOW On DVD EN and Spike Lee teamed up for this adaptation of David Benioff's novel 25th Hour. The story "depicts the last day of freedom for a young man before he begins serving a seven-year jail term for drug dealing. Prowling through the city until dawn with his two close male friends and his girlfriend, he is forced to re-examine his life and how he got himself into his predicament, which leads to a shocking, disturbing finale. (Hollywood Reporter 1/30/02). Filming started in New York in May 2002 and ended mid-July. Red Dragon- NOW On DVD Edward Norton stars as ex-FBI agent Will Graham, an expert investigator who quit the Bureau after almost losing his life in the process of capturing the elusive Dr. Lecter (Anthony Hopkins). Years later, after a series of particularly grisly murders, Graham reluctantly agrees to come out of retirement and assist in the case. But he soon realizes that the best way to catch this killer, known as the Tooth Fairy, is to find a way to get inside the killer's mind. And the closest thing to that would be to probe the mind of another killer who is equally brilliant and equally twisted. For Graham, that means confronting his past and facing his former nemesis, the now-incarcerated Lecter. The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson, Harvey Keitel, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Mary-Louise Parker. Filming apparently began on January 5. Frida- NOW On DVD EN made a cameo appearance as Nelson Rockefeller and did a rewrite on the script in this biopic starring Salma Hayek as the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Rockefeller "had Rivera [Kahlo's husband] paint a mural in Rockefeller Center, only to remove it when Rivera refused to change an image of Lenin, which Rockefeller felt went against the capitalist designs of the facility" (Variety 9/19/00). Filming started in Mexico City on April 7 and was completed mid-June. The Italian Job- NOW On DVD EN stars opposite Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron. Wahlberg stars as Charlie, head of a robbery crew who stages a traffic jam in order to steal back a safe filled with gold that previously had been stolen by a double-crossing associate (Norton). Theron plays Charlie's love interest. EN started filming around Nov 11. Motherless Brooklyn- STATUS: DEVELOPMENT Edward Norton will star in and produce this drama based on the Jonathan Lethem novel. Norton will star as "a detective suffering from Tourette's Syndrome who is pressed into duty to solve the murder of his mentor" (Variety 10/13/99). EN is currently writing the script. Fear Itself- STATUS: DEVELOPMENT Edward Norton is producing this remake of Straw Dogs (it is unknown whether or not he will star in it as well). Painted Veil- STATUS: UNKNOWN EN is producing and starring opposite Naomi Watts in this adaptation of the W. Somerset Maugham novel. Filming was to begin in Southeast Asia around the spring of 2003 however it did not go forward. "Burn This"- EN's last performance was Nov 9, 2002 EN and his Death to Smoochy co-star Catherine Keener starred in the Off-Broadway production of Lanford Wilson's "Burn This" with the Signature Theatre Company. Before his film debut in Primal Fear, EN was in the world premiere of Edward Albee's "Fragments" for the Signature Theatre Company and is currently on its Board of Trustees. The Signature Theatre Company devotes an entire season to the works of one playwright.
